Thea Gurns is a member of the San Diego Floral Association and serves on their board. She edited the group’s book, “California Garden Centennial Compilation, 1909-2009.” She writes for California Garden magazine. She also writes for EDEN, the journal of the California Garden and Landscape History Society, and is a former board member and former president of that group. She is a member of the San Diego History Center.

Her interest in heritage roses takes her around the world to look and sniff, most times in the company of like-minded appreciative others. She reads about the old roses and tries her best to grow them amidst her garden of California natives and other Mediterenean plants.
